As we have discussed, a quotation comprises three major elements: Items/Parts, Totals and Text. Each of these elements is in turn composed of much subsidiary information which may be included, excluded or edited as required. Your tenders may all be simple, following the same format, or they may all be complex, following different formats -- and any variation between these two extremes.

MQuote offers complete, immediate control over quote content in any combination of circumstances and preferences.

We will now look briefly at Items/Parts and Text. Totals are dealt with elsewhere.

Items/Parts

From the database, users may select items to be included in the quote. An "item" may be anything for which a cost and/or price is recorded, for instance: material parts, delivery charges, or commissioning and labour charges. A labour element may be included in each item.

There are some thirty fields of information available for each item and once this has been selected it becomes possible not only to specify quantity - as would be expected - but also to accept or override such default factors as units, discounts, prices and description which are imported as part of the item details.

A feature that imparts both clarity and individuality to a tender is the ability to attach an additional, application specific, description to any instance of an item.

Text

One major component of the Text content is the customer, quote, total or other detail which can be selected from the database and automatically imported into the quotation in question. For example, customer details need not solely be used in the address heading but, with the use of the merge code facility, may be further embedded in any part of the quotation where personalisation is required. Standard text may be displayed in the quote and specific, in-line text inserted at appropriate points.
